I feel every woman and her partner can benefit from having a birth doula, from those planning a homebirth, to those desiring an un-medicated hospital birth or those planning on using an epidural. The hospital staff works in 12 hours shifts, they have other patients and other tasks to perform. I am there with you and your partner the entire time and my only focus is you and your birth. Other than continuous labor support I also am here to help you find information so that you can make informed decisions on the options presented to you.
      I like to meet once before you choose me as your doula so that we can get to know each other a little and you can see if I would be a good fit for you and your family. After that I would like to have at least one or two  more prenatal visits to discuss what your desires are for your birth and see how I can best help you. You can call me any time that you have a question or concern.
     Once labor starts I can come to your home to help support you in early labor, if that is your desire. I will be with you and your partner or support person throughout labor to help support you both. After the birth I will stay with you for a short time and I can help you get breastfeeding established before I leave you to enjoy your new family. I like to have at least one postpartum visit to see how everyone is doing, how you are feeling about the birth and how breastfeeding is going, if you chose to breastfeed.
     I provide my services to all of Butte County, CA including Oroville, Chico, Paradise and any other nearby community. My current rate for birth doula services is $400. If this price is out of reach for you let me know and I am more than willing to work with you to find out what will work for both of us. I also offer a $50 discount on doula services to anyone who attends my childbirth classes!

Childbirth Classes
          I have group classes in Oroville regularly, contact me for details. If you are interested in private classes instead please contact me to discuss the specifics.
      This course teaches skills rather than just lecturing on information you could read for yourself. It does not focus on any one method, but instead gives you a wide variety of ideas you can use to help with labor. It also discusses pain relief options that are available, should you choose to use them. Class topics include: Stages of Labor, Coping Mechanisms, Hospital Procedures (including when to go), Pain medications, Breastfeeding and Parenting Skills.      The cost for the group classes is $75. If you also choose to hire me as your doula you can save $50 on doula services, which would off-set the cost of the classes down to only $25!!
